Amcor is making these steps – although we challenge its speed – and calling on its historical knowledge of paper to re-engineer this renewable material for high-tech purposes. With the world’s leading brands on its books, Amcor has the power to make a big difference, but will it use its power for good?
With operations in over 40 countries and 400 locations, Amcor connects 75,000 colleagues worldwide, delivering global packaging expertise locally and generating US$23 billion in annualized sales across diverse markets.
Several of Amcor’s sustainability solutions are related to its NaturePlus Renewable PE materials – a bioplastic (bio-polyethylene and traditional polyethylene mixes) alternative to fossil-fuel plastics. Bioplastics are not a viable solution to the plastic crisis. While they might be derived from renewable sources, the feedstocks are chemically modified and transformed into plastic content. When they break down, they break down into microplastics.
