WHAT WE SAY:

When the big guys move, the market moves. Allied Glass has the potential to put glass as a material back on the sustainable list.

Formally known as Allied Glass, who focused on renewable energy throughout the process and targets for recycled content, has now been acquired by Verallia.

ABOUT VERALLIA

  • Verallia, Europe’s leading and the world’s third-largest Glass packaging producer, has acquired Allied Glass, strengthening its position as a major supplier to the global food and beverage sectors. The French manufacturer generates €3.5 billion in annual revenue, produces over 16 billion bottles and jars, and serves 10,000 customers worldwide. As of 15 October 2025, its share price stood at €22.16, up 1.28%.

  • The company was bought by a global private investment advisory firm – an affiliate of Sun European Partners – in 2020 for an undisclosed sum.

  • Award Winners; Clara Chanteloup and Maxence de Cock imagined the “Arcadia” bottle – renamed “Flûte Gothic” during its development – as an organic mass growing upwards, made of asymmetrical and organic curves, like Gothic architecture. This project seduced one of the members of the jury, Jean-Claude Mas, who was looking for a bottle capable of expressing the uniqueness of his range of Ma/Mon wines.

  • Sustainable milestones achieved since 2015 include: 43% increase in the amount of post-consumer cullet; 18% reduction in usage of raw materials; 10.5% reduction in CO2 per tonne and 100% of Allied’s electrical requirement supplied by renewable electricity.

  • As of 2025, reports have shown - 13% growth in annual sales; 80 new customers in 2021; 43% rise in recycled glass; 18% reduction in raw materials and 10.5% lower CO₂ per tonne.

  • Allied Glass has developed a recycling process for a mix of coloured glass that is used to produce new and unique glass colours.
